"Smitty" Smith, II Patrick Broussard WELCOME SEADRILL PORTOFIBERIA GulSoastjun Connection The Port of Iberia welcomes Seadrill, a world-class deepwater drilling contractor, to the Port of Iberia. Seadrill recently signed a 10-year lease to establish a shorebase for their Western Hemisphere operations. This shorebase will maintain an inventory of parts and components for drill ships across the world. Seadrill operates over 50 drill ships, primarily overseas, and spends $1 Billion a year in operations. Port of Iberia Executive Director, Craig Romero, stated the 60-acre lease received Foreign Trade Zone designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce which was vital for Seadrill to locate at the Port of Iberia. "This will allow Seadrill to bring in equipment by their ships from foreign locations for repair or maintenance and ship back without any tax liabilities," said Romero. "Without this Foreign Trade Zone designation, this work would be done outside of the United States. Now the Port of Iberia, Louisiana and the United States will benefit economically." AGMAC UPDATE MILLENNIUM EXPANSION PHASE II Phase I of the dredging the Acadiana Gulf of The Port of Iberia is finalizing the purchase of 40 acres from Bernard Port Properties, LLC. The property is located behind the Port administration office between Lewis Street and Pesson Mexico Access Channel (AGMAC) is ready to begin. The AGMAC would allow dredging of a 16-foot deep channel Road. The Port received $2.4 million in capital outlay funds from the State of Louisiana for land acquisition and canal dredging. This will create more waterfront property with road and rail access. from the Port of Iberia to the Gulf of Mexico via the Intracoastal Canal. PORT.IBERIA The Gulf Coast Cajun Connen Contracts have been negotiated for the lowering of three pipelines to depth required by the Corps of Engineers at the Commercial Canal between the port and the Intracoastal Waterway. This portion of the project will take approximately six to eight months to complete at a cost of $6-7 Million dollar per pipeline. These funds have been appropriated by the state of Louisiana. After completion, work will begin on the actual dredging of the Port canal set to begin in 2021. The Port is also working with landowners along the route for property restoration using dredge materials.
