"Smitty" Smith, II PRIME PROPERTY AVAILABLE - CALL 364-1065 SHOREBASE LEASE The Port of Iberia is in the final steps of signing a 10 year lease agreement with multiple 10 year options with a world-class drilling contractor to establish a shorebase for the western hemisphere part of their worldwide operations. The Port has secured $4.4 Million dollars to enhance the existing buiklings and land in order to set up the shorebase. This shorebase will maintain an inventory of parts and components for drill ships across the workd. According to Port Executive Director Craig Romero, the first step to getting this workl-class drilling company to consider the Port was to establish a "Foreign Trade Zone"which the Iberia Parish School Board and Iberia Parish Council approved unanimously. This company operates over 50 drill ships, primarily overseas, and spends $1 Billion a year operating the company which includes a tremendous amount of repairs done in the immediate vicinity of the shorebase. Construction plans have been finalized and will go out for public bids soon. MARK DORÉ RECENTLY SELECTED AS PORT OF IBERIA BOARD PRESIDENT REPLACING OUTGOING PRESIDENT E.R SMITTY SMITH, IL MARK T. DORÉ SELECTED AS BOARD PRESIDENT Mark T. Doré was recently selected as 2020 President of the Port of Iberia Board of Commissioners. He replaces outgoing President E.R. "Smitty" Smith, III. Doré was appointed by the City of New Iberia in 1997. He has been in sales and marketing in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years. "I'm proud to be part of the Port Board of Commissioners for over 20 years. My main concern and priority is to continue working to make AGMAC a reality. The deepening of the channel is vital for the future of the Port of Iberia." DYNAMIC GIVING Over the Christmas holidays, Dynamic Industries, Inc. generously donated a 4-H Championship Hog to St. Francis Diner in New Iberia. The hog was purchased from Peyton Dore at the Sugarcane Festival. The property is located behind the Port administration office between Lewis Street 32 362 and Pesson Road. The Port received $2.4 million in capital outlay funds from the state of Louisiana for land acquisition and canal dredging.
